DescriptionN-[(2S,3S,4R)-3,4-Dihydroxy-1-[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxyoctadecan-2-yl]hexacosanamide, also known as alpha-galactosylceramide or alpha-galcer, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as glycosphingolipids. These are sphingolipids containing a saccharide moiety glycosidically attached to the sphingoid base. Although saccharide moieties are mostly O-glycosidically linked to the ceramide moiety, other sphingolipids with glycosidic bonds of other types (e.G. S-,C-, or N-type) has been reported. n-(3,4-dihydroxy-1-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}octadecan-2-yl)hexacosanimidic acid is found in Mirabilis himalaica. It was first documented in 2022 (PMID: 36130844). Based on a literature review a significant number of articles have been published on N-[(2S,3S,4R)-3,4-Dihydroxy-1-[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxyoctadecan-2-yl]hexacosanamide (PMID: 36130843) (PMID: 36130842) (PMID: 36130841) (PMID: 36130840) (PMID: 36130836) (PMID: 36130839).
