Description6-Hydroxy-2-[2-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-3-(6-methyl-5-methylideneheptan-2-yl)cyclopentyl]-8a-methyl-1,2,3,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ergostane steroids. These are steroids with a structure based on the ergostane skeleton, which arises from the methylation of cholestane at the 24-position. 6-hydroxy-2-[2-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-3-(6-methyl-5-methylideneheptan-2-yl)cyclopentyl]-8a-methyl-2,3,5,6,7,8-hexahydronaphthalen-1-one is found in Lobophytum compactum and Sinularia leptoclados. 6-Hydroxy-2-[2-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-3-(6-methyl-5-methylideneheptan-2-yl)cyclopentyl]-8a-methyl-1,2,3,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
