DescriptionGiganticine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as n-acyl-l-alpha-amino acids. These are n-acylated alpha amino acids which have the L-configuration of the alpha-carbon atom. (s)-{4-[(ethoxycarbonyl)amino]phenyl}[(1-hydroxyethylidene)amino]acetic acid is found in Calotropis gigantea. It was first documented in 1998 (PMID: 9548837). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on giganticine (PMID: 11520243).
