Pyrans are compounds containing a pyran ring, which is a six-member heterocyclic, non-aromatic ring with five carbon atoms, one oxygen atom and two ring double bonds. Sequoiatone C is found in Aspergillus parasiticus. It was first documented in 2001 (PMID: 11678666). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on methyl (6E,7R)-7-hydroxy-1,7-dimethyl-6-[(3S)-3-methyl-2-oxononylidene]-6H,7H-cyclopenta[c]pyran-5-carboxylate.
